Thomas Ong suffered from ‘homelessness'

Local actor Thomas Ong has revealed that his decision to forgo having a single place to stay for three months last year caused him to suffer from depression.
Speaking at the press conference for his new TV drama Secrets for Sale, the former MediaCorp star said that after moving in and out of rented apartments for the past 10 years, he "wanted to experience what it's like to be without a home."
During those three ‘homeless' months, Ong primarily stayed with two of his friends, who let him use their guest room or living room. Occasionally, we would stay at a budget hotel or live with his godson in Kuala Lumpur.
The nomadic lifestyle caused him to suffer both physically and mentally. He said: "I didn't know it would be so depressing not having a fixed place to go back at the end of the day."
Even though he knew that he was slipping into depression, he did nothing to stop the slide, saying: "I wasn't in a clear state of mind then. I intentionally wanted to have this experience. Maybe actors are sickos."
Ong is much better now after meeting a senior financial advisor, Mr Hang Chang Choon, who encouraged him to start planning for his future.
With Mr Hang's advice, Ong decided to become a financial advisor as well, learning how to manage his finances as his life.
Looking back on his bleakest period, he says that he "always knew that it was just an experiment and that (he) would be okay in a few months time".

Vanessa Hudgens' naked pics leaked again

More naked photos of Vanessa Hudgens have been leaked online.
More graphic in nature, the fully nude shots were self-taken by the High School Musical star and are believed to be from the same batch that was released in 2009.
According to reports, Hudgens believes whoever is doing this "has it out for her" as the release of these photos of her always coincides with her movie releases.
Her latest movie "Sucker Punch" is coming out in theaters later this month.
With regards to taking the pics in the first place, a source close to Hudgens said, "Trust me ... Vanessa has learned her lesson."

Kate’s see-through dress sold at auction

Kate Middle ton's style has been a big subject of intense interest lately. One look that only she could pull off is a see-through dress she wore at a charity fashion show in 2002 -- it was auctioned off on Thursday. The winning bid: $125,871(SGD$160,540). Wearing a dress that won over a prince: priceless.

Here's the story. Back in 2002 at St. Andrew's University, Middleton agreed to model a student-made outfit for charity. The "dress" was a piece of sheer black silk that was intended to be a sheer skirt. The fashionista-in-training wore it hiked up as a strapless cover-up, though it didn't cover much up.

Prince William, also a student at St. Andrew's and a pal of Kate's, had a front-row seat at the college fashion show.  This is the moment that is widely believed to be the instant that his fashionable friend -- suddenly seen from every angle -- was viewed in a more romantic light by the royal spectator.

Interest on the infamous frock caused searches on Yahoo! for "kate middleton see-through dress" to spike 1,400% in the last week.

The see-through shift went up for auction at Kerry Taylor Auction -- and was initially valued to go for £10,000. The jumper was in good company: Two dresses worn by Diana, Princess of Wales, were at the same auction. We assume they're not see-through.

The dress worn by Middleton was purchased by an unidentified male British buyer. "He thinks it's an iconic piece," said the buyer who represented him at auction. "He's very happy."

By the way, the mesh dress designed by textile student Charlotte Todd for about $48 was titled "The Art of Seduction." Mission very much accomplished.

Hikayat Merong Mahwangsa the most successful Malaysian film

Touted as the "most successful Malaysian film in terms of global reach," and impressing the critics who have seen previews, "Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa" (or "The Malay Chronicles: Bloodlines"), is set to hit Malaysian screens on Thursday.
Produced by KRU Studios, the film tells the tale of Merong Mahwangsa, a descendent of Alexander the Great who saves a Chinese princess from pirates who have abducted her. The cast features local and international actors, including Stephen Rahman-Hughes, Gavin Stenhouse, Ummi Nazeera, Dato' Rahim Razali and Jing Lusi.
In a release to the media, the producers claim to have spent "US$10 and US$20 million" on costs. Patrick Ewald, the CEO of Epic Pictures (the international distributors for the film), added:  "We are amazed by the production quality of the film. Although distributors had never heard of the myth surrounding Merong Mahawangsa, they were captivated by (the film's) fast paced action sequences."
Malaysian entertainment blogger, J Shamsul  said: "I'm awestruck watching the trailer. At first glance it looked like something that comes from a Hollywood or Hong Kong studio. I've been waiting for something like this to come from the Malaysian film industry..

Malaysia radio cuts gay lyrics in Lady Gaga anthem

Malaysian radio stations worry some lyrics in Lady Gaga's gay anthem "Born This Way" are on the wrong track, baby.

The stations are refusing to play lyrics in the hit song that encourage public acceptance of gays. The main private radio operator in this Muslim-majority country says it's being cautious because the government forbids potentially offensive content.
Broadcasters in the Muslim-majority country that have played "Born This Way" used indecipherable garble to replace the lyrics: "No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I'm on the right track, baby."
AMP Radio Networks said Thursday in a statement to The Associated Press that those lyrics "may be considered as offensive when viewed against Malaysia's social and religious observances."

Selina Jen to marry on 30th birthday

Taiwanese media reported that embattled S.H.E. sweetheart Selina Jen will tie the knot with fiancé Richard Zhang Cheng Zhong on 31 Oct, which is Jen's 30th birthday.
Selina and Richard were initially going to wed on 1 April but the wedding was reportedly moved to the new date despite Richard's insistence to stick to April.
Earlier on, it was reported that Richard and Father Jen did not see eye to eye regarding the wedding date due to health concerns over Jen's much-publicised on-set explosion accident which left her with third degree burns.
However, Richard seemed to get along well with his mother-in-law, as photos from his visit to the Jens' home in Tienmu showed them together.
Jen was injured while filming "I Have A Date With Spring" and had an intensive three-month therapy which was the source of plenty of rumours regarding the status of her intended marriage.

M'sian celebrity advised to be cautious following brother's murder

Kajang (The Star/ANN) - Malaysian screen and TV celebrity Janet Khoo, listed by a men's magazine as one of the 100 sexiest women in the country, is fearing for her life following the gory death of her brother early this month.
Businessman Khoo Kim Leong, 47, was reportedly beaten up and strangled before his body was thrown into a ravine at Lembah Pangsun, near here.
A passer-by found the decomposed body while walking in the area at about 11.40pm on March 6.
Kim Leong was found dead with his legs tied and his body wrapped in a mattress.
It is believed that he was involved in a heated argument before his tragic death.
Trying hard to hold back her tears, a distraught Janet, 39, said it was painful to talk about her brother's brutal murder.
"His death was so tragic. It's a police case now. I'm sorry I can't reveal the details because my life and my family's life are in danger right now," she told the Daily Chilli, the news portal of The Star.
"It's so painful to see my brother's body which was beyond recognition.
"I am still shocked over what had happened and hope the public will give me and my family some time to calm down."
Janet had appeared in award-winning TV dramas and films, including a lead role in the 2003 blockbuster Paloh about the confrontation between the Japanese occupation forces and the local people in the 1940s and the self-produced Haryati for Astro Ria in 2005.
Janet said she and her family had been advised by the police to take precautions because revenge was believed to be the motive behind her brother's murder.
"I'm not even allowed to discuss his funeral details. I hope my fans and my media friends can understand my situation.
"I appreciate everyone's concern. But at present, I need to protect my family and myself," she said.
Meanwhile, police said they had detained two suspects in their 30s for questioning.

Hollywood star calls Singapore ‘barbaric’, a ‘benevolent dictatorship’

It may have been tongue-in-cheek but Hollywood star Seth Rogen's jokes have sparked furious debate among Singaporeans. The Canadian actor and comedian, 29, has come out to say that he was "afraid" of Singapore, calling it "a very frightening place".
In a tongue-in-cheek interview on popular late-night US television talk show ‘Conan' on 10 Mar, the star of Green Hornet told host Conan O'Brien that most people wouldn't go to Singapore because of its strict laws, much to the audience's amusement.
He said that the nation's "claim to fame was in the ‘80s when that dude did graffiti and got caned a bunch of times by the government.", referring to Michael Fay, who was sentenced to caning in 1994 after he was found guilty of theft and vandalism.
He went on to say that "it was very frightening to be there", because of the death penalty for drug smugglers, which he called  "his second career".
Rogen, who was in town on 25 Jan along with Jay Chou to promote his movie, also weighed in on the ban on chewing gum, with O'Brien expressing incredulity that such a thing could be banned in Singapore, calling it very "hardcore". He also jokingly called Singapore "a benevolent dictatorship... where no one has ever voted."
Conan is one of the most popular late-night talk shows in America, with each episode drawing an average of 1.3 million viewers.
Local celebrities Yahoo! Singapore spoke to said Singaporeans shouldn't get too worked up about Rogen's comments.
Actor-cum-singer Nat Ho tweeted in response: ‘I've just watched it, I think it's all right in the context of the talk show la. We shouldn't get our knickers in a bunch over this. ‘Cos' I think that would only prove how uptight we are. Live and let live. It doesn't hurt anyone.'
Popular actress Joanne Peh told Yahoo! via a tweet: "I promise I will enlighten him about Singapore when I am cast in Green Hornet 2."
However, other Singapore netizens thought Rogen was ignorant and insensitive.
Forum user smartrader said: "He talked like a moron. He did not know that by saying such things he should never step into Singapore again - if he is so scared."
Monkeyface expressed disappointment with the actor, wondering: "Is he trying to be funny because he is on the Conan O' Brien show or just displaying his ignorance?"
Others, however, called the interview funny.
Brainiac  said: "Hey guys... Don't you think you are taking this video too seriously... I actually thought what he said was pretty funny! There's a difference between insulting a country in a derogatory manner and poking fun at its idiosyncrasies... If you think about it, the things he says about our gum being banned and people not being able to vote is pretty true!"
Undergraduate Jonathon Jacob, 24, felt Rogen "jumped to conclusions too early from stories he heard prior to his trip. Anyway, he was on an American talkshow. Nothing like an American making fun of an Asian state."
Twitter user Vinyarb (vinyarb) also tweeted, "Aiyoh, can we really take him seriously, knowing 1) he's a comedian and 2) he's on Conan.

Hong Kong actor stories

Hong Kong star Raymond Lam still feels hurt over the leaked ‘bedroom photos' of him and ex-girlfriend Mavis Pan Shuang Shuang.
The 32-year-old actor-singer had earlier admitted that he used to be in a relationship with the voluptuous Pan, whose nickname is ‘Little Shu Qi'
Lam said that the pair had been dating for several months, but they separated due to his busy schedule as well as personality differences.
The 24-year-old Pan had married a Caucasian by the name of John in 2009, a netizen claimed in an online article.
Lam also said that he had encouraged her to take photos of them together, but he ‘just didn't know she would take photos when I was asleep.'
He added that he would not pursue the matter legally with Pan, and that he has not contacted her since their separation.
According to Pan, the photos were leaked after she had left her handphone at a hair salon six months ago.

Maya the Cun chick

Maya Karin Roelcke or more popularly known as Maya Karin among her fans, is a well-loved Malaysian actress, host and singer. The beauty, who is of German and Malay parentage had first dabbled in acting when she was offered a part in Aziz M. Osman's feature film "Seri Dewi Malam". Her latest offering for fans is her upcoming role as a glamorous and successful TV host in "Cun" alongside aspiring actor, Remy Ishak.
Interview conducted recently at Cinema Online
First of all, thank you for dropping by at Cinema Online. Can you tell us a little about your role in "Cun"?
You're welcome. Well I play Luna Latisya, a successful host of a popular gossip show. She's engaged but her fiancée somehow messes up and to get away from all the stress, she runs away to a peaceful village and that's where the story really begins.
Tell us some of your most memorable experiences while filming "Cun"?
For me it was just being at the village-side in Kedah for 3 weeks. Just sitting around by the paddy fields and the buffaloes. Hanging about the beautiful village and being surrounded by chickens and ducks was really fun. When things got a little boring or when I was waiting on set, I would chase the chickens and ducks around. (Laughs) It was a really pleasant and fun experience but there were always a lot of mosquitoes around.
How was it like to record a duet with Remy Ishak for the soundtrack of the movie? And also, if there were any interested parties that approached you and Remy with a recording offer, will you accept?
The recording process with Remy was really fun! The whole thing happened by chance when the idea to duet was brought up by Osman and Julian. If someone were to approach me with a recording offer, I would definitely go for it.
What's new and upcoming for you, Maya?
Right now I'm busy shooting "Lagenda Budak Setan 2". Other than that, I've just finished the studio recording session for my upcoming album and patiently awaiting its launch.
What kind of roles do you fantasize to play in the future?
I've always fantasized to play a role that is along the lines of a tough warrior princess. She gets to ride on a horse and has a sword to swing around. (Laughs)
If you were offered a part in James Cameron's "Avatar 2" and the script demands your character to perform a sex scene, will you be willing to accept the part?
No, I won't do it.
Is your ex-husband your first love? If not when was the first time you fell in love?
No. The first time I fell in love was when I was 18 years old. But it didn't last long, as it was only for about 9 months and we communicated through letters. It was a long-distance relationship.
What are your hopes and dreams for 2011 as well as your expectations for your upcoming movie "Cun"?
I'm really excited for this year as I have two really great movies that will be out in the cinemas. I also have an album coming out and I'm really looking forward to it. It will be available very soon. I hope that "Cun" will get a great response because it is a really great movie. Don't forget to catch it at the cinema!

Michael Jackson kids leading normal lives

Michael Jackson's mother has made a conscious decision to "unmask" his children so they can have a more normal life.
Pop icon Michael passed away in June 2009 of acute Propofol intoxication by intravenous injection of another. Propofol is a powerful anaesthetic usually given to surgery patients to help them sleep, and Michael's personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray has pleaded not guilty to his involuntary manslaughter.
Since his death Michael's mom Katherine has been caring for his three kids, Prince Michael, 14, Paris, 12 and nine year old Prince Michael II, known as ‘Blanket'. While he was alive Michael was renowned for keeping his children out of the limelight. He made them cover their faces in public and they were schooled at home, but Katherine has decided to relax things.
"It's something which my mother had made a decision on. She felt she wanted to unmask the kids, she wanted them to be normal and they love it," Michael's sister La Toya explained to TV Guide's Julie Moran, in an interview airing this weekend.
"They're doing very well, extremely well, I'm very proud of them. It's interesting because Paris said to me, ‘Auntie La Toya you look just like my father, when I see you it reminds me of my father.' And I said, ‘Really?' she goes, ‘Yeah.'"
La Toya also spoke about how she discovered her brother had died. She was on her way to see him after discovering he had been hospitalised when her mother imparted the news, with La Toya explaining Katherine could find no easy way to explain what had happened.
"I was on the way to the hospital and I asked to speak to my mother's assistant. I said, ‘Can you tell me which building you guys are in or where you are?' She grabbed the phone and goes, 'He's dead', as loud as she could. She was overwhelmed by sadness and that just blurted out of her mouth," La Toya said. "When I arrived there [the hospital] she was just sitting there with the kids all in her lap crying."

Bubble trouble for marginal shows

It's that time of year when TV creatives tend to shy away from making an offer on a house, maxing out the credit card or planning an extravagant summer vacation. With the upfronts less than two months away, the Big Four and the CW have their eye on the bubble, or the shows that are not a slam dunk to return for the 2011-12 TV season. At this juncture of the season, a strong finish can give a bubble show a reprieve, while the writing is probably on the wall for programs that limp to the end.
Following is a network-by-network rundown of what execs will be considering during the next few weeks.
ABC
The Alphabet has a bunch of dramas on the fence, most of them leaning to the wrong side.
"No Ordinary Family," "Off the Map," "Detroit 1-8-7" and "V" probably have more minuses than pluses. "Family" struggled in a tough 8 p.m. Tuesday timeslot opposite "Glee" and "NCIS," and its lead actors are fleeing: Michael Chiklis is the lead in CBS comedy pilot "Vince Uncensored," and Julie Benz is attached to the Eye's untitled Susannah Grant project.
"Detroit 1-8-7's" 1.7 rating in adults 18-49 for likely won't cut it for a renewal, nor will "Off the Map's" 2.2 demo score despite the show's Shonda Rhimes pedigree.
"Brothers and Sisters," however, would seem to have some life left in it. Alphabet execs realize the femme-skewing sudser is a good counterprogramming pairing with "Desperate Housewives" on Sunday nights in the fall and winter when NBC is dominating with football.
"V" could be ABC Entertainment topper Paul Lee's biggest question mark. While the alien drama showed early promise, the execution over the past two seasons has often fallen short. A 2.4 rating is nothing to scoff at these days, but ABC has to be asking what the upside is in going forward with season three.
On the comedy front, Matthew Perry's "Mr. Sunshine" has averaged a nothing-special 2.9 behind "Modern Family," but a soph season can't be ruled out. Similarly, "Better With You" hasn't distinguished itself but has performed OK between hits on Wednesday. It could be back, perhaps as part of a new comedy block.
CBS
Being the most consistent broadcaster means not having to make many changes and having the luxury of being selective in picking new shows.
"The Defenders" has wrapped its first season with decent averages (10.3 million viewers, 2.2 in 18-49) by the standard of its Friday 8 p.m. timeslot. The future of the Jim Belushi-Jerry O'Connell starrer will hinge on how much Nina Tassler likes the net's drama pilots.
Midseason drama "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior" has delivered so-so ratings despite the benefit of a strong lead-in from the mothership "Criminal Minds." Still, it's hard to see the net part ways after giving Forest Whitaker and Co. only half a season to find an audience.
Comedy-wise, "Bleep My Dad Says" delivers a steady 3.1 rating in 18-49, but that's underwhelming considering it airs behind "The Big Bang Theory" on Thursday. And there's a feeling at the network that the show has creative weaknesses.
Newcomer "Mad Love" is performing below "Bleep" and doesn't seem to be engendering any great love -- either from critics or viewers. "Rules of Engagement" has become a solid midseason utility performer for CBS and, like a good 10th man in baseball, looks to be too valuable to lose.
Fox
Network chief Kevin Reilly moved "Fringe" from Thursday to Fridays, but will it make a difference? The sci-fi skein may now be No. 1 in its new timeslot (2.2/7, 5.4 million viewers), but Fridays don't matter as much anymore. Whatever Reilly decides, he's sure to make enemies.
More pressing for Reilly, however, may be the fate of "The Chicago Code." Fox gave it plenty of publicity during the Super Bowl, but it still hasn't found much support at 9 p.m. Mondays. An argument can be made either way regarding its 2.4 rating and 8.9 million viewers, but the clout of "Code" creator Shawn Ryan may tip the scales in favor of renewal. Still up in the air are the fate of dramas "Lie to Me" and "Human Target." Both shows earned surprise pickups last spring, but it seems doubtful that both will pull off the same trick this year.
Among all of broadcast TV's midseason comedy entries, "Traffic Light" can boast solid writing, but it hasn't done a whole lot behind another frosh laffer, the already-renewed "Raising Hope." If Fox expands its comedy slate beyond Tuesday to another night, it may want to keep "Traffic" on the bench.
NBC
The end may finally be near for "Chuck." After squeaking by the last two years, the show is sputtering in the ratings (fourth-place 2.1 on Monday). If new NBC Entertainment boss Robert Greenblatt feels he has something that can do better, he could pull the plug despite the show's loyal cadre of vocal fans.
The performance of a batch of new episodes starting next month will probably decide the fate of "Law and Order: Los Angeles." Midseason drama "Harry's Law" figures to return despite nothing-special demo averages. Both of these shows may benefit from a compatible lead-in, perhaps something like the new "Prime Suspect" that the Peacock is piloting. In comedy, "Outsourced" does a good job of holding on to the "30 Rock" aud at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, but that may not be enough justification for a second season. "Perfect Couples," which will be displaced next month by "The Paul Reiser Show," seems to have only a slim chance of seeing another season.
CW
With "Smallville" bowing out and "Life Unexpected" and "Shedding for the Wedding" likely also finding the door, CW probably won't have to trim much more. The net typically adds only two or three shows each fall.
But if outgoing entertainment prexy Dawn Ostroff wants to clear shelf space for new dramas, newbies "Nikita," "Hellcats" and even eight-season vet "One Tree Hill" could be vulnerable.

Yearly Horoscope:

Singles: You enjoy your singled om in 2011. While it would be nice to have a partner at times, most of the time you’ll be too busy to think much about it. 2011 is a very social year for you. Jupiter, the planet of ‘let the good times roll’ in your busy zone from January 22 – June 5 and then in your home and family zone June 5-June 12, 2012 means you’ll have a full dance card. You’ll be charming and impatient at the same time in February, while Venus in your sign March 3-28 brings admirers flocking your way. A Gemini you meet through a neighbor or sibling in July is someone you quickly realize is more of a great friend than anything else. A hot fling in August has you rethinking your single status. Don’t make any changes to your Facebook status until October.

Couples: Money could be a bone of contention early in the year between you and your partner, while family matters get between you later in the year. Focus on the relationship between you and him and try to deal with whatever else comes your way without letting it ruin the good thing you two have. You ruler Uranus moves into your third house of communication early March through 2019. You’ll start being much more open and honest with everyone. This is both a good and a not so good thing! Home is where the heart is for you from mid-June on. If your other half likes to be out and about all the time, work out a compromise. Stay in and entertain sometimes and hit the town other times. December 10 a lunar eclipse in your romance zone has the ability to make you stronger or end things just before the holidays.

Career

Saturn, the teacher of the zodiac in your ninth house of higher education through October 2012 urges you to soak up as much information as you possibly can. Considering hitting the books in May when you realize your charm and street smarts only gets you so far. Some of you will even become full time students in 2011 and change career direction completely. A clash of your ego and a coworker’s in July will have some of you looking for greener pastures elsewhere. August is a great month to schlep your c.v. around while a friend offers invaluable career based advice to you in October (which you should listen to).

Money

Home renovations, real estate purchases and new updates around the house are on your money spending agenda in 2011. Furthering your education and overseas travel are important to you too but you really have the ‘nesting instinct’ this year and it’s important that you take advantage of lower interest rates and tax credits when buying a home. A windfall or bargain comes your way in March. Don’t neglect to take advantage. Check bills and statements twice in August and if you’re planning on making a major purchase, November 16 is a great day.

Travel

Saturn in your travel zone entices you to fly the coop, but cautions you against spending too much money doing so. Travel on the cheap is the objective in 2011. April is a good month to hit the world with your bff or partner in tow. Mid July you’ll be ready for a spa break or all inclusive resort type deal where you don’t even really have to think.

montly horoscope:

Your ruler Uranus makes a move – a big move this month – into Aries – where he stays through mid 018. The planet of the unusual and the unexpected could trigger surprising news as well as a quick out of town trip. Unfortunately Uranus’s move also has the potential to cause a ruckus and spark a mishap, so drive with care and be careful on ladders and when using heat and sharp knives etc.

You’ll have all the charm in the world this month, with Venus transiting your sign. Single? Venus’s visit in your sign March 3 – 26 is the cosmic dating service/matchmaker. Librans, Aries, Gemini’s and Sags are all purrfect matches for you. If you’re involved or dating, things get more serious around the time Uranus shifts gears into your romance zone. Some of you will be blown away by a surprise proposal from your partner – whether it’s a set of keys, a wedding proposal, your own drawer, or your name on his or her life insurance policy! Woo–hoo!

Relationship challenges pop up off and on all March. Power plays and tunnel vision will be the root causes, both of which will be triggered by Mercury in Aries approaching his retrograde journey March 30 – April 23. Misunderstandings are highly likely as Mercury goes out of phase in your communication zone and this will last through the end of April. You might be tempted to remain silent rather than voice your opinions in March, but that will only deter your progress in the long run. Be tactful Sags, but do speak up even if doing so releases subconscious thoughts.

Money is also something that comes your way in unexpected ways thanks to Venus and Uranus. Buy lotto tickets with loved ones and really be open to taking chances with people and opportunities. Just be careful what you wish for as you might just get it!

European celebrity Sabrina

Paparazzi Photos- Sabrina A. Parisi
Sabrina was seeing today on September 02, leaving the Pet co Store in la Canada Flintridge with a big Eukanuba dog food bag. It was about 8,30 pm and she was noticed by two persistent photographers, or paparazzi. She was alone. She tried to avoid their flash lights but the two men rushed to take some extra snap. According to a sale person, Sabrina looked disturbed by the perseverance and the pushy questions of the two men but she did not say one word. Three of the security guards moved to help her but the two paparazzi did not look that dangerous so she eventually entered her Jaguar that had ashes caused by the recent fire in California. Securities had the paparazzis backing up so the young woman could move her car, then left on an increased speed.

Dress For Interview

Dress For Interview

While the college campus may be the perfect forum in which to exhibit your flair for the latest in fashion style, the interview is not the place to do so. With very few unusual exceptions, sandals and sweatshirts are out. Oxfords and business suits are still in. A necktie is still a fact of life in interviewing. Even though many companies have relaxed the internal company dress code, interviews still follow the conservative standard. Don't buck the trend.

Unfortunately, most college grads are woefully underprepared with proper interview dress. They feel they can "get by" with what is already in their wardrobe. Usually not. Dress for the world outside college is quite different from the campus scene. Remember that stylish is not conservative. You should be doing the talking, not your clothes.

This is not to say that you need to go out and buy a whole new wardrobe. Go for quality over quantity. One or two well-chosen business suits will serve you all the way to the first day on the job and beyond. Then, when you are making some money (and have a chance to see what the standard "uniform" is for the company), you can begin to round out your wardrobe. For now, no one will fault you for wearing the same sharp outfit each time you interview. If you desire some variety within a limited budget, you might consider varying your shirt/blouse/tie/accessories as a simple way to change your look without breaking your wallet.

For those of you who need a quick review of the basics, follow these guidelines for successful interview dress:

Men and Women
  • Conservative two-piece business suit (solid dark blue or grey is best)
  • Conservative long-sleeved shirt/blouse (white is best, pastel is next best)
  • Clean, polished conservative shoes
  • Well-groomed hairstyle
  • Clean, trimmed fingernails
  • Minimal cologne or perfume
  • Empty pockets--no bulges or tinkling coins
  • No gum, candy or cigarettes
  • Light briefcase or portfolio case
  • No visible body piercing (nose rings, eyebrow rings, etc.)

Men
  • Necktie should be silk with a conservative pattern
  • Dark shoes (black lace-ups are best)
  • Dark socks (black is best)
  • Get a haircut; short hair always fares best in interviews
  • No beards (unless you are interviewing for a job as a lumberjack!)
  • Mustaches are a possible negative, but if you must, make sure it is neat and trimmed
  • No rings other than wedding ring or college ring
  • No earrings (if you normally wear one, take it out)
Women

  • Always wear a suit with a jacket; no dresses
  • Shoes with conservative heels
  • Conservative hosiery at or near skin color (and no runs!)
  • No purses, small or large; carry a briefcase instead
  • If you wear nail polish (not required), use clear or a conservative color
  • Minimal use of makeup (it should not be too noticeable)
  • No more than one ring on each hand
  • One set of earrings only
If you are still not sure how to dress for the interview, call them and ask! That's right--call the employer. But this is one time when you do not want to call the Hiring Manager--instead, ask to be put through to Human Resources and say:

"I have an interview with _____ in the _____ department for a position as an _____. Could you please tell me what would be appropriate dress for this interview?"

Sure, you run the risk of someone in HR thinking you are a social imbecile, but that's a lot better than having the Hiring Manager distracted by inappropriate interview dress.

While many work environments have shifted to business casual as the work standard, business suits are still the interview standard. When in doubt, it is almost always better to err on the side of conservatism.

One final note on interview dress: while it goes without saying that your interview clothes should be neat and clean, very few interviewees give the same time and attention to their shoes. Shoes? Yes, shoes. I am aware of at least one Corporate Recruiter who forms first impressions based solely (pardon the pun) on shoes. This person does not have a shoe fetish--he subjectively judges that those who pay attention to details like their shoes are also likely to be diligent in their work life. And it is not just that person's opinion. Many have said that you can judge a person by their shoes. You will find that many ex-military officers (many of whom have found their way into management positions in corporate America) are especially aware of a person's shoes. It is not enough to be clean, pressed, and ironed. Make sure your shoes are conservative, clean, and polished.

Pakistan dismissed West Indies for 112 Runs

Pakistan bowl Windies out for 112 Pakistan dismissed West Indies for 112 runs in the first quarter-finals of the ICC World Cup 2011 here at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur on Wednesday.

After captain Darren Sammy won the toss, for the first time in the tournament, and decided to bat first, West Indies could not resist against the Pakistan spin attack, led by Shahid Afridi, and were all out in 43.3 overs, giving Pakistan an easy target of 113.

Leg-spinner Afridi, already the tournament's leading wicket-taker, took his tally to 21 as he finished with four for 30, including two wickets off successive balls.

Off-spinners Mohammad Hafeez and Saeed Ajmal claimed two wickets each for 16 and 18, respectively, while pacers Umar Gul and Abdul Razzaq took a wicket each.

Veteran Shivnarine Chanderpaul, brought back to the team after being dropped in the previous match against India, was the only batsman to defy the spinners with a dour unbeaten 44 off 106 balls.

Except Chanderpaul, Ramnaresh Sarwan (24) and Kemar Roach (16), no West Indian batsman could get into double figures

The West Indies were reduced to 71-8 before a 40-run stand between Chanderpaul and Roach, which helped the former champions surpass their lowest World Cup total of 93 against Kenya in Pune in 1996.

The West Indies never recovered from the disastrous start when they lost three top batsmen, Chris Gayle, Devon Smith and Darren Bravo, by the sixth over.

Gayle, returning to the side after recovering from an abdominal strain, made eight when he drove Umar Gul to mid-off where Afridi accepted the catch.

Hafeez, who shared the new ball with Gul, trapped Smith and Bravo leg-before in the space of four deliveries to open up the middle-order.

Shell-shocked by the early reverses, the West Indies groped to 36-3 after 15 overs, with Chanderpaul making just three runs off his first 27 deliveries.

Ramnaresh Sarwan and Chanderpaul put on 42 for the fourth wicket before Afridi destroyed the innings with three wickets in 11 balls.

Sarwan, dropped by Gul at mid-off when he was on 14, added 10 more to his score before Afridi gained revenge by having him caught at point by Umar Akmal.

The Pakistan captain then removed potential dangerman Kieron Pollard (one), caught behind by wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal, and claimed Devon Thomas leg-before first ball.

Darren Sammy prevented a hat-trick, but the West Indian skipper lasted only three deliveries before he was leg-before to Ajmal.

Ajmal also bowled new batsman Davendra Bishoo later in the same over to continue the West Indies slide.

The winners of this tie will face either India or Australia in the semi-finals.

Cliff Richard Storie

Cliff Richard
Sir Cliff Richard would love to work on a single with Lady Gaga but only if she toned her stage outfits down.
Sir Cliff Richard would like to record a song with Lady Gaga.
The 70-year-old singer - who has had more than 130 singles in his career, which has spanned more than half a century - would love to work with the eccentric singer but only if she toned down her notorious costumes.
He told BANG Showbiz: "I wouldn't mind singing with Lady Gaga but she can't wear any of those hats."
In addition to Lady Gaga, Cliff - who has been a bachelor his whole life - is also respectful of Leona Lewis and Adele, proclaiming them both to have "fantastic" voices, but he is concerned about how long their respective careers will last.
He added: "Adele and Leona Lewis are both incredible, fantastic voices but only time will tell. My gripe is that often with these really fine singers something goes wrong through no fault of their own and then they disappear. I hope Adele can hold her own because she sounds fantastic!"
Discussing his own taste, Cliff claims he likes an "eclectic" mix of artists.
He said: "I have very eclectic taste, Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Elvis, Motown, it's all about the music."
Cliff's forthcoming new album - an as-yet untitled collection of duets with both soul legends and contemporary artists - has been produced by Lamont Dozier, with David Gest serving as executive producer.

Lady Gaga had to trick herself into not being sick live on stage.
The 'Born This Way' singer was suffering from food poisoning during a recent concert in London, causing her to vomit backstage, but she refused to throw up when performing in front of her fans because she didn't want them to see she is as vulnerable as everyone else.
She said: "The other night, in London, I had food poisoning. I was vomiting backstage during the changes. Nobody knew ...I just Jedi mind-tricked my body. I told myself, 'You will not vomit onstage.'
"I was also thinking, 'If I do, they are going to think I'm drunk. And I don't want them to think I am human, let alone drunk. I certainly wouldn't want them to think I had something so ordinary as food poisoning."
Despite the food poisoning incident, Gaga - real name Stefani Germanotta - says she considers herself to be a "great performer".
She added in an interview with Vogue magazine: "Speaking purely from a musical standpoint, I think I am a great performer. I am a talented entertainer. I consider myself to have one of the greatest voices in the industry. I consider myself to be one of the greatest songwriters. I wouldn't say that I am one of the greatest dancers, but I am really quite good at what I do. I think it's OK to be confident in yourself."

Debbie Harry Storie

Debbie Harry thinks Lady Gaga is "encouraging" for the US music scene.
The legendary Blondie frontwoman has criticised music in her home country for being too conservative and believes the eccentric 'Born this Way' hitmaker is a breath of fresh air.
She said: "Gaga is truly talented and slightly mad. I find her encouraging.
"It's such a conservative period in the US. We have even had attempts at censorship, which I find appalling and terrible.
"Artists like Gaga are necessary during periods like this."
As well as being a fan of Gaga, Debbie also praised Madonna as a "force to be reckoned with", though she admits she used to hate the way the singer copied her style.
She said: "Was I aware Madonna was copying certain elements of my style? Yes. Did I mind? Some parts yes, some parts no. It was love/hate.
"I loved her wildness and sexuality. 'Borderline' was the material I found most interesting. She is a force to be reckoned with in the industry - and I commend that."

Rumer Storie

Rumer
'Am I Forgiven' singer Rumer categorises herself as a ''low maintenance'' pop star.
Rumer is a "low maintenance" pop star.
The British 'Am I Forgiven' singer - whose real name is Sarah Joyce - admits she annoys her management with her constant questions, but knows in reality she doesn't require much attention from them.
She said: "My label think I'm a nightmare, because I'm constantly on their case about things.
"The good thing is that I'm low maintenance. I did my own A and R myself. And every album I make will work out of the box."
However the 31 year old beauty also reveals she was turned down by many record companies before label Atlantic picked her up, which she believes is down to her looks.
She reveals: "Other labels didn't think I'm pretty enough. Well, you know, 'You're too fat.' "
Rumer also jokes she hasn't listened to her album 'Seasons Of My Soul' in its entirety since it was completed, but she is glad to finally be noticed by being nominated for awards, having been nominated for Best British Female at the BRITs this year.
She said: "I haven't heard 'Seasons Of My Soul' since it was mastered. But with the nominations there's no feeling of arrival. It's not that, but it is just to be recognised for doing something well, which is good."

Pink Floyd storie

Pink Floyd
Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason lives ''in hope'' of the band reuniting to play together again.
Pink Floyd's Nick Mason lives "in hope" of the band playing together again.
The drummer said although it is "very unlikely" the psychedelic rockers will regroup for a tour, he is optimistic that one day they will play together again.
Nick - who is one of three surviving members of the 'Money' group, alongside guitarist David Gilmour and bassist Roger Waters - told radio station BBC6: "No one has said we will never work together again. I live in hope that we will play together again.
"I think it is very unlikely we are going to go out on tour however I live in hope we would absolutely do another Live 8 or play together for the right reasons."
Roger left Pink Floyd in a bitter 1985 split, and he was not reunited onstage with David, Nick and now departed keyboard player Rick Wright until 2005.
The group then came together to play for the first time in 24 years at charity show Live 8, appearing at the one-off festival's London event.
The group had then been set to play at a small charity show last year, but pulled out after feeling their plans had been "completely misunderstood" and it was wrong to p-lay a "relatively small gig" as Pink Floyd because it would not benefit the charity involved.
Presently Roger is touring Europe performing Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' album in full, with his own backing group.
Nick added: "I think Regor's really happy working on his own now, it's hard to see him thinking he'd like to come back. It's hard to see Dave thinking he'd really like to work full time with Roger."

Sammy Hagar Storie

Sammy Hagar
Singer Sammy Hagar claims he was abducted by aliens who ''plugged into'' him and ''uploaded something from my brain''.
Ex-Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar claims he was abducted by aliens.
The former vocalist with the 'Jump' group claims an extraterrestrial life form had "plugged into" him in order to see what was in his brain.
He told mtvhive.com: "That's right. It was real. Aliens were plugged into me. It was a download situation. This was long before computers or any kind of wireless. There weren't even wireless telephones.
"Looking back now, it was like, 'F**k, they downloaded something into me!' Or they uploaded something from my brain, like an experiment, 'See what this guy knows'."
Sammy added this was not the only time he has witnessed spooky activity, and that he once belives he had an encounter with a car with no wheels.
He added: "One time I saw what I considered to be, well, at the time I thought it was a car with no wheels. We lived out in the country and I saw this thing floating across a field, creating this big dust storm. I threw rocks at it and s**t. And I don't know what happened after that."
The singer left Van Halen in 2005, and the band subsequently reunited with their original singer David Lee Roth. The group are presently in the studio recording their first album together in 26 years, since their record , released in the same year, although Sammy says he's heard sessions have been fraught with fall outs between David and lead guitarist Eddie Van Halen.
He said: "I heard it's not going so good. This is what I've heard through the grapevine, that they've already fired one producer and Ed and Dave supposedly can't be in the same room together. If they can't be in the same room together, how can they make a record?"

The award recognizes an individual who is an inspiration to sexual minority youths and who increases visibility and understanding of the lesbian gay bisexual transgender and questioning community.

Its fantastic. The fact that they think of what Ive done by promoting awareness of The Trevor Project itself and the issues that it works to promote and help is a great honor. Radcliffe told The Associated Press.

The people that are doing the heroic things are the people answering phones 24 hours a day in the Trevor call centers. I think that out of everything that Ive done so far in my career. I think this is absolutely one of the most important if not the most important thing that I'm associated with.
