Thanks and Farewell

Repeating what I first reported last month -- thanks to all of you who have followed me here on the blog and on Twitter @Entertainment2u. It's been a pleasure keeping you updated on the latest movies, television, music, online and other entertainment news over the past couple of years. I started all of this back in March 2009 as a hobby -- and it quickly became a passion. But due to a real full-time job and mounting pressures on my time, I can no longer do it all!

You may have s
een hints that this was coming -- as my movie reviews ended earlier this year, the weekly music blog posts become monthly, etc. So today, I have ended the Twitter entertainment feed and the blog altogether. I do hope you were able to celebrate this milestone with the special contest I ran over the past month -- just my way of thanking you for all your support.

Thanks again, and farewell -- for now!

Spielberg to make mini-series about Napoleon

LOS ANGELES: Hollywood legend Steven Spielberg is to make a television mini-series about Napoleon, based on a screenplay by Stanley Kubrick, he told a French broadcaster.
The 66-year-old "Schindler's List" and "E.T." filmmaker is working on the basis of a five-decade old script by Kubrick, who directed classics including "A Clockwork Orange" and "2001: A Space Odyssey."
"I've been developing Stanley Kubrick's screenplay for a mini series, not for a motion picture, about the life of Napoleon," Spielberg told broadcaster Canal Plus, without saying if he would direct or just produce the project.
"Kubrick wrote the script in 1961, a long time ago," he said, noting that he and Kubrick were both involved in the development of "A.I. Artificial Intelligence," which came out in 2001.
Kubrick, famed for his obsessive perfectionism, abandoned the Napoleon biopic project in the 1970s because of budget and production challenges, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
In a draft 1971 letter to studio executives, Kubrick -- who died in 1999 aged 70 -- said of the project: "It's impossible to tell you what I'm going to do except to say that I expect to make the best movie ever made," the industry journal said.
Kubrick wrote to actor Oskar Werner offering him the title role, and received a polite refusal to his offer to Audrey Hepburn, it said.
He initially asked British "Clockwork Orange" author Anthony Burgess to write a book about Napoleon, which he would use as the basis for his film. But he was reportedly disappointed by the manuscript.
Spielberg was named last week as jury chairman for this year's Cannes Film Festival. His appointment came days after his presidential drama "Lincoln" won a disappointing two Oscars, after being nominated in 12 categories.

It has been reported that Priyanka will be paid Rs28 million for the song making here the highest paid actress for a single song.
The song has been composed by Anu Malik and has been inspired from club music from the 70s.

'Jack' slays N. America box office

It easily unseated the comedy "Identity Thief" starring Melissa McCarthy and Jason Bateman, which dropped back to second place with $9.7 million in box office receipts. So far, "Thief" has taken in $107.4 million.
Debuting in third place was comedy "21 & Over," about a medical student who goes out partying with his buddies for his 21st birthday on the eve of a major med school exam. The film took in $9 million from Friday to Sunday.
In fourth place was horror sequel "The Last Exorcism Part II," which earned an estimated $8 million in its opening weekend.
Action film "Snitch" starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson dropped from second to fifth place with $7.7 million, followed by animated kids movie "Escape from Planet Earth," in sixth with $6.7 million.
Romantic drama "Safe Haven," the latest adaptation of a Nicholas Sparks novel, was in seventh place at $6.3 million.
"Silver Linings Playbook," whose star Jennifer Lawrence took home the Oscar for best actress finished in eighth place with $5.9 million. It has so far taken in $115.5 million in box office sales.
"A Good Day to Die Hard," the latest "Die Hard" action film with Bruce Willis reprising his role as supercop John McClane, finished in ninth place despite less-than-flattering reviews with $4.5 million.
Rounding out the top 10 was science fiction horror movie "Dark Skies" with $3.6 million.
